“What I Ate Wednesday” was a popular feature on blogs several years ago, with people sharing photos and descriptions of everything they ate in a day.
I decided to try my own spin on the concept by including the whole family. The idea was, as always, to be real about it, showing the vegetables and the cookies, the dinner successes and the fails, the pretty packed lunches and the unfinished ones.
I didn’t last long–about a dozen posts in total–because it just felt intrusive, especially with my kids.
The general “What I Ate Wednesday” concept has been criticized by some for showing hyper-idealized versions of eating. But I hope my posts show something different, namely the realities of feeding a family (and yourself).
Just remember: Every person and every family is different. And one day doesn’t tell the whole story.
