Frequently Asked Questions

Does this meal plan include breakfast, lunch, and dinner?

Dinner time is by far the most stressful meal of the day, so this meal plan focuses on dinner. But as a bonus, I’ve got some breakfast and snack recipes tucked in there, too.

What if I don’t shop at ALDI?

Everything can be bought at any typical grocery store. There’s one ingredient that is an ALDI exclusive, but I give an alternative option in the meal plan.

Will my kids eat these meals?

These recipes are all kid-tested. No off-the-wall ingredients or challenging flavors. These are all simple, family-friendly dinners, and we’ve provided tips throughout on modifying them based on the ingredients your family likes best. Each recipe also includes special tips for serving it to picky eaters.

Do I need to learn a new system?

Nope, we make it easy. Just scan over the meals for the week, check the shopping list and cross off what you already have, then head to the store to get your ingredients. No apps to download, no logins or passwords needed.

How long do the meals take to prepare?

Most of these meals take around 30 minutes to prepare. There are a few that take longer to cook (such as a slow cooker pot roast), but the hands-on time is generally low.

Are all of these recipes made from scratch?

These recipes include some packaged foods to streamline dinner prep, such as frozen meatballs, jarred sauce, and canned beans. But there are many whole food ingredients in the recipes too, such as fresh vegetables, fish, and fruit.

Do I need special kitchen equipment?

Besides a stovetop and oven and basic bowls/spoons/knives/pans, there is one recipe for the slow cooker and one for the Instant Pot (but there are alternate instructions for using a slow cooker instead if you don’t have an Instant Pot).

Are the ingredients hard to find?

All of the ingredients can be found at ALDI. Keep in mind that availability may differ across stores. If your ALDI doesn’t have a particular ingredient, it can also be found at another grocery store.

Do I have to follow the plan exactly?

Not at all. There are five dinner recipes each week, and you can shuffle the meals around within each week, depending on what works best for you day-to-day. You’re also welcome to move the meals around from week-to-week, just be sure to update your shopping list. I’ve also built in some backup plans and hearty meals to double and freeze, so that you’re covered even if your plans change.

Is this a physical product?

This is a PDF download. You can print the whole thing, or just sections (it’s helpful to print out the shopping lists, for instance). Or the meal plan can simply live on your computer or phone as a PDF.

Is this plan vegetarian?

It includes eight meatless (or meatless option) dinners, but otherwise is not vegetarian.
