My family eats salads nearly every evening, so we go through a lot of dressing. Once I started making my own, it was hard to go back to the bottled kind–especially the ones with preservatives and artificial dyes.

My favorite way to dress a salad is to put the greens in a large serving bowl, drizzle on the dressing, and toss the heck out of it before serving. That way, each leaf is perfectly coated. It makes a big difference!
I like using white balsamic vinegar in this quick vinaigrette dressing. It’s a lighter alternative to regular balsamic and is key to the great taste of this dressing. But if you don’t have it or can’t find it, you can use your favorite vinegar instead.
- 1/2 cup white balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic, (about two medium cloves)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 3/4 cup olive oil
- Pour vinegar into jar.
- Add salt, onion powder, basil, oregano, garlic, and sugar.
- Add olive oil and shake well.
