Freezer meals regularly save my day. I always have some tucked away, whether I’ve cooked them myself or they’re from my freezer meal co-op (read How to Start a Freezer Meal Co-Op). But I’m always looking for new recipes that work well for the freezer, so I reached out to some my blogger friends for their best healthy freezer meals for this round-up. Just click on the images in the gallery below to get the recipe.
Freezing Tips:
- Store soups, chili, and sauces in gallon-size plastic bags. Fill the bag, then place it flat on a baking sheet in the freezer until solid. Flattened freezer meals can be easily stacked.
- If you don’t want to use plastic bags, soups also be frozen in glass jars. Just be sure to cool the soup completely and leave 1-2 inches of space at the top for expansion (or the jar will break in the freezer).
- Casseroles or meats with sauces can be frozen in plastic bags too. Then defrost and place into your baking dish when you’re ready to make them.
- For any kind of burger or patty, place a piece of parchment paper between patties so they don’t stick together.
