  1. Whoo – that was good stuff! Although with the salt in the taco seasoning I threw together and the soy sauce, it was a touch too salty.

Oh, and I totally made this in my Dutch oven.

  2. What size crockpot did you use? I saw in the intro that you can double this and freeze it, would this affect the cooking instructions at all? Thanks!

    1. Hi Jill–I have a standard-size slow cooker and two batches would easily fit in it. I’m not sure if it would affect cooking time, but I would think 4-5 hours on LOW would still work. Just check it partway through to see how it’s doing. I give mine a good stir halfway through and then mashed it up at the end (along with a half-can of refried beans).

  6. omg this was so good! I made this yesterday and my picky family inhaled it! I used 99% fat free turkey and it was yummy!

  7. I have tomato paste in a tube and was wondering how much to put in, I dont have a can.

    1. Hi Amanda–You’re looking for three ounces. I did a little research online and it looks like a typical 6-ounce can has about 10 tablespoons, so you’d want to put in 5 tablespoons.
