The bread machine does a lot of the heavy lifting in this recipe: Dump the ingredients in, push a button, and the mixing, kneading, and rising are all magically taken care of. Game changer!

Ingredients You Need

1. All-Purpose or Bread Flour

2. Granulated sugar

4. Table salt

3. Quick-rise yeast

5. Egg (for egg wash)

6. Favorite toppings

Add ingredients and set the bread machine to the "dough" setting. It will mix, knead, and rise.


Divide into eight portions, shape into balls, then poke a hole in the centers. Cover and let them rest.


Boil bagels for 2 minutes, flipping halfway through. Add 1 tsp baking soda to the water for a chewier bagel.


Use a pastry brush to brush bagels with egg wash (1 beaten egg plus 1 tablespoon water).


Add toppings like poppyseed, sesame seeds, Everything Bagel seasoning, and shredded cheese.


Bake 15-20 until golden brown. Then remove from baking sheet to a wire rack to cool.
