Things I made, bought, tasted, or tried this week that made me happy:
Stainless Steel Drinking Straws: I’ve always struggled to drink enough water every day. Using a straw helps me guzzle more, but that always feels so wasteful. I spotted these stainless steel straws on Kids Konserve and ordered a set. Now there’s no more guilt and a lot more water.
Power Greens Pesto: I love pesto but don’t usually have fresh basil (unless it’s growing in my garden). That’s why I like this recipe from The Full Plate Blog. You can use whatever greens you have handy. I made this batch with a box of pre-washed baby spinach I had in the fridge.
Perforated Pizza Pan: This was a $3.49 impulse purchase at ALDI last weekend. It’s 16″, which is a perfect size for my family of four, and is perforated on the bottom to create a crispier crust. I tried it out Super Bowl night and made my best homemade pizza yet.
Baklava: Because when it’s the third snow day in nine days and you’ve gotten what feels like the equivalent of a CrossFit workout shoveling the heavy, icy snow from your driveway, you might as well bake something. Since I accidentally bought phyllo dough at the store recently (don’t ask), I decided to try this Pioneer Woman recipe. It was a big hit (and as you can see, it makes a ton).
Disclosure: I am a member of the ALDI Advisory Council. However, I was not compensated for mentioning ALDI in this post. All opinions expressed are my own.
