Forget marble countertops and sub-zero refrigerators. Here’s my idea of a dream kitchen: pantry shelves with rice and pasta in labeled jars that are easy to spot, a clean refrigerator with chopped fruits and veggies right at eye level, and cupboards with the pots, pans, and dishes I use the most neatly stacked and within easy reach.
At the start of each new year, I’m seized with an impulse to neaten and organize. Since I spend so much time in the kitchen, I decided to start there. Because an organized kitchen saves me time, lowers my stress levels, and makes meals and snacks quicker and easier to prep. An organized kitchen means I can grab the box of kosher salt without rifling through a messy cupboard. It means I know exactly how many pounds of ground beef I have in my freezer. It means I’m not buying another bag of whole wheat flour with two opened (and forgotten) bags at the back of the cabinet.
It means I can open my refrigerator, cupboard, or freezer doors and see order instead of chaos!
So I embarked on a kitchen reorganization and asked my friend Katie from Mom’s Kitchen Handbook to join me. And now we want YOU to join us too.
