Both of my kids love dried fruit and fight over it like it’s candy. And sometimes, dried fruit can seem a lot like candy–especially when a bunch of sugar’s been added.
That’s one reason I dig these new Plum Amazins. They have no added sugar at all, and are naturally lower in sugar (and calories) than even raisins. And since they’re dried plums, they’ve got a bunch of fiber: 3 grams per serving.
Yes. I said dried plums.
As in, prunes.
Prunes!
Prunes you will love. Prunes your kids will gobble up.
To be honest, I’d never even tried prunes before. Though I love fresh plums, prunes have always given me the willies. They’ve always looked a little too mushy and menacing.
But Plum Amazins are cute little dices and aren’t mushy at all. My kids eat them straight from the canister. I’ve been toting them around in a little baggie with raw almonds.
You can also toss them onto salads

or bake them into cookies.

Want to try them for yourself?
I’m giving away a coupon for a FREE canister of Plum Amazins to two readers.
To enter, please:
1. “Like” Real Mom Nutrition on Facebook here if you don’t already.
2. Leave a comment after this post telling me your favorite dried fruit and how you like to eat it (on oatmeal? with nuts? straight-up?).
The giveaway will end Wednesday February 1 at noon EST. I will choose two winners through Random.org and mail out the coupons.
Disclosure: Sunsweet provided me with a coupon for myself, as well as two for my readers.

I love dried cranberries tossed with fresh spinach, feta, sliced apples, and balsamic viniagrette, I also love putting them with dates in a yummy granola bar recipe I make for my kids. Dried fruit is an excellent snack to take on the go!
I love dried apples straight up for a snack.
I love dried prunes and raisins….straight up!!!
We love any and all dried fruits! Especially dates, cranberries and papaya. Prunes are especially treasured by you-know-who in our house (clue: she’s short and blond).
My fav. dried fruit is dried cherries. I love them on oatmeal and any time I need a snack!
My fave dried fruit is Mango. Don’t like raisins…would like to try these to see if I like them. Will check out my local grocery store. Thanks for the intro!
My boys love prunes but the family favorite is dried blueberries and cherries. I mix them up in a trail mix with nuts for the boys. BUT for the Mamas I top them on brie, chopped garlic and wrap in pre-package croissant for a delicious, simple baked brie.
Sounds good! I am getting ready to make granola bars this week, I’ll add these to the grocery list
I will look for those. I need something other than raisins to put on my spinach salad.
My toddler loves dried strawberries and peaches. We’ll see if he will go for some prunes.
My kids love dried fruit! Have to try these!
I love dried bananas! But, really I like pretty much any fruit–dried or not!! =)
I love dried apricots. I have a rice cooker recipe that calls for apricots, barley rice and browned butter. It’s amazing. I really like prunes so I’m definitely going to look for these.
Miles (5 yo) and I have the same dried-fruit favorites: mango and prunes, er, dried plums. We have them straight up as snacks.
I already like you on FB!
Dried fruit is pretty much a staple in our kitchen. For awhile, I actually had the kids (now 5 and 3) convinced that it was gum and so real gum was safely off the menu even though significant family members chew it regularly. Then… well kindergarten happened. Kids learn so much so early these days.
But, thanks to an early start, dried fruit has been ingrained on their taste buds. Our new current favorite is figs. Any fave is mangos.
