You don’t realize how slow you are until you’re in a crowd of 4,000 runners–and about 3,000 of them pass you. Including grandpas and small children.
But no matter. I ran a 5K for Donna this morning in the brilliant sunshine. I ran the whole thing without stopping, which was my goal. And I only felt like throwing up a little bit, toward the end. I consider this a major success.
Though the run benefited breast cancer research, I also raised money for Donna’s Good Things, a non-profit established by friends whose 4-year-old daughter Donna died of brain cancer two years ago.
If you would like to contribute to my 5K fund for Donna’s Good Things, I’m collecting donations for one more week. Email me at realmomnutrition@gmail.com and I’ll send you the specifics. To those of you who have already donated, thank you so much! The image of Donna’s beautiful little face–and the thought of your generosity–kept me moving today.
